My 22 Days Vegan Cleanse
You’re becoming vegan now? What are you going to eat? You mean no chocolate for 22 days? You’re crazy! Have you lost your mind? Are you doing this to lose weight? I couldn’t last more than one day eating vegan! etc, etc, etc. That’s what I kept hearing when I decided to embark on this journey of a 22 days vegan cleanse.
When my dear friend and amazing fulfillment expert, Eve, asked me to join her on a 22 day vegan cleanse I hesitated for two entire days. I asked her for the ingredients’ list, meal descriptions, and reasons why vegan and not at least vegetarian! I contemplated the fact that I was going to travel to my hometown Santo Domingo. You mean no pastelitos, mangú, cheese balls, croquetas? Most importantly, I asked her “Do I need to give up chocolate?”
After contemplating all the reasons why it would be amazing to do a vegan cleanse, I gave in to the proposal and embarked in a transformation journey on November 1st, 2015.
Today, November 22nd, 2015 was my last day of the cleanse, and I have to say, it was one of the best decisions I have made in my life.
Here’s what I learned during these past 22 days:
1. Eating vegan is actually delicious
From lentil soups, hummus, amazing salads, smoothies, black bean burgers, sweet potatoes, quinoa dishes, carrot muffins, zucchini Alfredo and basil, noodles and mushrooms, carob chip pancakes, to delicious snacks and desserts including dates, fresh berries, oatmeal cookies, chocomole and YES… CHOCOLATE!!! You might be surprised all the delicious healthy meals you can prepare on your day to day.
2. Cooking can be FUN!
I admit it, I have never been a fan of cooking, in fact, everyone in my family was surprised when they heard I was actually cooking my own meals! But once I decided to do the cleanse, I got excited about cooking and actually being in charge of what I was going to eat every day.
3. My energy level skyrocketed
Those who know me are probably thinking, how is that even possible? More energy? Well, YES! As the days passed, I was feeling renewed and more energized. I became more focused, felt lighter and with a greater desire of continuing to eat healthy and keep the momentum going.
4. Support systems rock!
I was lucky enough to be surrounded by friends and family members that supported this journey. It made a world of difference! They gave me strength, cheered for me, and made it possible for me to finish this program with great success. So, if you decide to make a change in your life, surround yourself with those who you know will bend backwards and forward to make your transformation possible.
5. Your mind is your ally!
Be clear on your purpose and your goals and everything else will fall into place. Your mind is your ally in everything that you do in life. I set my mind to finishing this program and from the beginning I decided to enjoy the ride, be happy and open to whatever the results were going to be. Once I started I didn’t hesitate on my decision; I attended several birthday parties were they had different kinds of cheeses, brownies, chocolate cakes, burgers, dips; I traveled to Santo Domingo and didn’t try any local dishes; I was determined and clear on what I wanted to accomplish and that’s all I needed to continue with my cleanse.
No, I didn’t starve, no, I didn’t go crazy and felt like ditching the cleanse to eat what wasn’t included on the meal plan, no, I didn’t have to give up CHOCOLATE, no I didn’t lose my sanity. I gained knowledge on new and healthier ways of eating; lost the fear of trying new foods, eliminated the idea that a vegan cleanse meant barely eating, and proved myself that I was able to stick to a vegan meal plan even though I had never tried eating vegan.
You are what you eat! So why not try to replenish yourself and your life, even if it’s to feel a transformation in your body and your health? Don’t be afraid of challenges and changes, you might discover that they are easier than what you thought they were.

Awesome Anadel….you are playing the game!!!
Thank you Roberto for your constant love and support!
This looks amazing – it's on my menu for this week. However, I have a qusoeitn… I have 4 little ones. Do you think 3 TBsp of chili powder will be OK on their little tongues? I don't want to make anyone cry!! LOLThanks!
Hi Rosie!
I would not recommend giving too much chili powder to your little ones. Always consult a doctor. But consider that chili powder delivers a burst of heat to the body and can cause skin and mucus membranes to swell.
