It is very common that in the very fast paced world that we live on, many of us suffer from episodes of anxiety. I know, I’ve been there. Many times we feel overwhelmed, out of our element, and simply not being able to concentrate on what’s really important… being PRESENT.

Thankfully, there are many ways we can release that stress and anxiety, one of them being through the practice of Yoga.

Below I leave you with 4 yoga poses that will help you release tension, anxiety, and

Tadasana (Mountain Pose)

Mountain PoseThis is the foundation for all standing yoga postures and full inversions. I particularly like the way Yoga Outlet explains how to get into the pose.

Padahastasana

This one is my personal favorite for both children and adults.

padahastasana

  • Simply stand in Tadasana, both feet parallel to each other, making sure that they’re facing forward.
  • Inhale and extend your arms straight up over your head with your arms touching your ears.
  • Exhale and bend from the hips maintaining a straight back.
  • Get your hands as close to the floor as possible. You can micro bend the legs if you feel pressure on the hamstrings.
  • Hold the posture for 10 seconds gradually increasing the time up to 1 mint or more.

Balasana

Balasana

  • From Table pose, exhale and lower the hips to the heels and forehead to the floor. Have the knees together or if more comfortable, spread the knees slightly apart.
  • You can have your arms along side the body with the palms up or they can be overhead with the palms on the floor.
  • Breathe slowly and deeply, actively pressing the belly against the thighs on the inhale.
  • Breathe and hold for 4-10 breaths.

Adho Mukha Svanasana (Downward Facing Dog)

The highly known downward dog is a great pose to release and let go.

Downward Facing Dog

  • Sit on your heels, lower your head on the mat in child’s pose, stretch your arms forward.
  • Get on all fours.
  • Push with your hands and straighten your legs.
  • Extend your pelvic bones up and heels down.
  • Let your head hang freely, stretch your waist.
