5 things that saved my life
For a person who was always used to looking at the bright side of life, who was constantly striving for greatness and making herself and her loved ones proud; who made friends easily and who enjoyed life, things got pretty complicated.
I was a victim of workplace bullying for over 5 years, my world was crumbling down and nothing seemed to be worth fighting for. I reached out for help, did a lot of soul searching, and little by little started to gain my life and my happiness back.
Among the many things and tools that I learned along the way, here are 5 of the ones that literally saved my life:
- Reach out for help: It is OK to reach out to those who love you. Those who will remind you that YOU matter; that you are in this world for a purpose. There is no shame in being weak, as it is in our hardships that we find the strength to move on.
- Developing a daily ritual: Meditation and yoga became key to my day to day routine. Even if it was for 15-20 mints, being centered and being PRESENT helped me realize that we only have this life, this moment to enjoy and it is worth fighting for it.
- Love more: love those who love you; love those who have harmed you; love those who you don’t even know; and most importantly develop the habit of learning to love YOURSELF.
- Accept: acceptance of the situation that you’re in; of the people around you; of your feelings. Embrace the feeling and release what doesn’t serve you.
- Forgive: by forgiving we open ourselves up to clearer energies and we welcome into our lives the opportunity of understanding and no judgement.
Despite the frustration that you might be feeling there are always tools to help you achieve what your heart desires. Believe that you have the strength of allowing only situations that will bring fulfillment to your life. Focus on what matters; and on what your true purpose in life is. Everything else around you will start to line up, and those that don’t align to your mission, will eventually fade away.
