Bottom of the eighth inning and the Indians rallied three runs including a home run. My heart was racing, I didn’t know if to sit, to stand, to cover my face, to scream… but something in me knew this was the year for the Cubbies.

Sure enough, not only was the game tied, but there was also a rain delay, to which one of the Cubs’ team members said “it’s ok guys.. this is only going to make our win sweeter.” Talk about a winning spirit!

9th inning and no runs… the game extended to the 10th inning. I really thought my heart was going to explode… The Cubs pushed two runs but then came the bottom of the 10th… not only the Cubs, but all the fans and everyone watching this amazing game, had to hold their breath when Davis from Cleveland hit a run-scoring single. “But reliever Mike Montgomery replaced Carl Edwards and got Michael Martinez to hit a slow roller into the infield. Third baseman Kris Bryant scooped it up and threw across to first baseman Anthony Rizzo.Billy Witz, NYTimes.

The game was over, the crowd went crazy, fans everywhere around the world couldn’t help but scream, jump and dance of excitement, because after all, 108 years later, the Cubs won their well-deserved World Series Championship title.

But this post is NOT about baseball, well…just a little. This post is about resiliency, admiration, perseverance, love and passion.

The way that the Cubs played was simply amazing. Leaving aside the technicalities, the mistakes, the possible extra “runs” that they could have had, you have to give it to the team; the focus and attitude that they had throughout this series was impeccable.

They didn’t give up, they had a mission, a purpose, and that was to earn the title of 2016 World Series Champions.

It was a pleasure watching them push forward; watching them support each other; watching them fight for what they wanted AND deserved.

They didn’t allow themselves to get discouraged or to simply give up. On the contrary, they knew that it wasn’t over until it was over.

Which brings me back to why I am sharing this with you. The way that they played is the way that we should play the game of LIFE.

Never give up, fight for what you want and for what you KNOW you deserve. Do it for yourself and for the ones that have supported you along the way.

Have faith and trust that you have been preparing yourself for bigger and greater things.

Don’t sell yourself short. Be a team player and enjoy every second of YOUR game. Like a very good friend of mine and huge baseball fan told me, “in baseball, like in life, you confront challenges by yourself, but you need an entire team to WIN.”

I invite you to visualize YOUR WORLD SERIES. Find the joy in all the good and not so good moments. Pick your players, like Theo Epstein did with the Cubs, strategize, don’t give up, and if lost, find someone who can guide you through the journey.

Allow yourself to be INSPIRED by others, just like these players and their entire team inspired me this season.

Trust that no matter how many times you fall down, there is ALWAYS a reason to stand back up (look at the Cubs… 108 years!!! yet, they kept pushing until they reached their goal).

Fly the W! Go Cubs! Go YOU!

And finally, go out there and be AWESOME.

Let me know how that goes for you 🙂

Until next time,
